Motueka to Collingwood Day Trip - 2/3/25
We were going to move to Pohara today on the other side of the Takaka range but made the call to stay on this side as we had heard how bad the range was to go over with a caravan, so we took a day trip over in the ute to see the other side.
First stop - Hanyes Lookout
Goochie needed a hand on the walk
Pohara Bay, very cool place
Pohara Marina Walk
The Cult Camp (NZMCA) on the point - rocks were a bit like the pancake rocks.
Local Wildlife
Another drive thru Hole in the Rock
The Abel Tasman coast was so clear & bright blue, really amazing
Another shot of the hole in the rock
The Things you see when driving around Pohara Bay
Downtown Takaka
Collingwood Bay
Not Much to say about Collingwood, expect it was different
A bit of artwork on some of the building around town
Funny enough the cafe was closed......
More Artwork
Now this was really really different.
Downtown Collingwood
The Gooch & Daryl enjoying Downtown Collingwood
Zooming on Farewell Spit
On the way back, I get Daryl to divert to the Waikoropupu Springs suggested on the road sign, which we find and it is a no dogs zone...... we go in and the walk says around trip in about 25-45 minutes. We did it in 15 as we had to get back to Goochie.
The long walk in trying to convince Daryl it will be worth it...
It was - the water was oh so clear
A quick stop to enjoy the springs
A couple of natives
Was quite spectacular
And on the way out again
Daryl admitting it was worth the walk
So, so clear
Takaka Township on the way back to camp.
Even though it was lovely up in Golden Bay, we feel we need to start moving down and will leave tomorrow to go south down the west coast. A quick trip down to the supermarket to get stock so we are ready to haul out tomorrow.
